Report underage sales to protect young people
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is supporting Kent County Council Trading Standards in a new campaign to tackle illegal underage sales across the borough.
See it. Report it.
It is against the law to sell certain products to anyone under the age of 18.
Residents are encouraged to report any concerns relating to the sale of:
- alcohol, including beer, wine and spirits
- vapes, including e-cigarettes and refills
- tobacco products
- knives, including kitchen knives and other bladed items
Taking action helps protect young people from harm, reduce anti-social behaviour, and ensure responsible retailers are not undercut by those breaking the law.
Report quickly and confidentially
All reports are handled in confidence and help Trading Standards target enforcement activity where it is most needed.

Support for local businesses
Businesses are reminded of their responsibility to prevent underage sales.
Retailers should ensure that:
- staff are trained in age verification policies such as Challenge 25
- valid identification is requested where appropriate
- procedures are in place to refuse sales when necessary
Guidance and support are available via the Kent County Council Trading Standards business advice service.
Working together to keep communities safe
By reporting concerns, residents can play an important role in protecting young people and supporting safe, responsible trading across Tunbridge Wells.
