Council success against unlicensed waste carrier
Another successful court case in the fight against unlicensed waste carriers as a man from Snodland is given a bill of over £1,000.
In May a vehicle was seen collecting waste from a property in Hawkhurst. The Council’s Street Scene enforcement officers contacted the driver and asked him to produce the waste documentation he should have for this sort of work.
He failed to respond to this and to follow-up communication, and so the matter was taken to court where he pleaded guilty and was fined. Costs were awarded against him – he ended up with a fine of £1,085.
If you use an unlicensed waste carrier you could end up with a fine too so don’t be afraid to ask questions about what’s going to happen with your waste and ask for waste carrier registration details.
