Notice of Intention to commence Local Plan preparation

Under the new plan-making system (The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026, Part 4 Regulation 19), the Council is required to publish a ‘Notice of Intention’ to commence Local Plan preparation.

The Council has a deadline of 30 June 2026 by which to do this. The Notice of Intention provides communities and other stakeholders with advance notice of plan‑making so they understand when and how they can get involved in preparing the new Local Plan.

Once approved by Cabinet, the Council will publish its Notice of Intention to commence Local Plan preparation with further details alongside the publication of the Local Plan Timetable. This is expected to be by 30 June 2026.
