Local Plan Timetable

Under the new plan-making regime instead of the Local Development Scheme (LDS), Local Planning Authorities are required to prepare and maintain a Local Plan Timetable which must be kept up to date.

The timetable will include key milestones, including consultation periods when stakeholders and the communities can engage with the plan-making process. The Timetable will also set out dates for ‘Gateways’ which are a new requirement of the plan-making process, as well as when the Council expects to be able to submit the Local Plan Review and all associated supporting documents for Examination, and adoption.

The Timetable is required to be published on the Council’s website before or at the same time as the publication of the Notice of Intention to commence local plan preparation .

The Tunbridge Wells Local Plan timetable will soon proceed through the Council’s committee cycle to Cabinet for approval in June. It is expected that the Timetable will be made available and published on the Council’s website by 30 June 2026, alongside the Notice of Intention to Commence Local Plan Preparation.

The timetable will be updated as work on the Local Plan review progresses.
